More Dogs

These are a few pages from my Call Script for More Dogs. This was a dance-based historical piece so some of the scenes very heavily featured visual cues, and some had more cues based on lines. Additionally, there were some scenes where all of the dialogue was pre-recorded and played back, and some scenes had cues for every few lines which often matched up with lighting cues. I color code my cues to make it easier to differentiate between sound, lights, deck, and standbys while I’m calling, and I indicate what kind of cue it is with LX, SQ, S/B, etc. This show didn’t have a set other than a few chairs moved by the cast, so I only had sound and lighting cues to call.

This was the second scene in the show, and it was a movement sequence with no dialogue, so almost all of the cues were visual. This sequence was about 30 seconds of back to back visual cues, so over the course of the week of tech and performances, I essentially memorized this cue sequence so I could call it without looking down at my script.
This scene was a movement sequence with dialogue over it, but all of the cues lined up with movements like the Elk Hunt from the beginning of the show. These cues were more spread out, so I was able to look at my script between cues.
This scene was all pre-recorded dialogue with each block of text called individually. Because of this, I had a lot of sound cues paired with a lot of lighting cues that I had to call at the same time.
